Drawing on the experience gained with our successful igniter re-programming of the carb'd twins, we have a process for downloading our performance tunes to your bike's EFI ECM, without it connected to your bike. This service is for enthusiasts who don't have the technical experience or tools to download a TTP performance tune to their bikes ECM.
The Process:
- Place an order with us for your chosen tune and this service.
- Remove the seat from your bike.
- Disconnect your battery terminals.
- Disconnect the grey and the black plugs from your ECM.
- Unclip the battery strap and slide the ECM out from behind the battery.
- Follow the shipping instructions on your order receipt.
- Place a copy of your order in with your well packaged ECM. We recommend an insured signed for shipping method.
- Ship to Twin Power at the address on your receipt.
To minimize your downtime, we process and ship your EFI ECM back to you within 3 business days of receipt.
- Twin Power receives your shipped EFI ECM
- We download your chosen performance tune to your ECM.
- The adaptive settings on your ECM are reset so the new tune can adapt to your local conditions.
- Any error codes in the ECM are reset.
- Your ECM is packaged and returned to you by insured shipping.
- You receive your ECM and fit it to your bike. Don't forget to reconnect the grey and black connectors to your ECM before reconnecting the battery.
- Carry out the "Reset Adaption" process outlined on the next tab.
Put on your gear, go for a blast and enjoy riding your Triumph twin with the knowledge that your bike is running in good tune.
**This is a performance modification and will void your Triumph warranty**
TTP has reset the adaptive settings in your ECM whilst downloading your new tune. This procedure, as the name suggests, resets the adaptive settings within your ECM to factory defaults. This lets the new tune build up a new set of adaptive logs that will take in to account things like air pressure and temperature changes within your riding locale and also resets the TPS (throttle position sensor) which can enable smoother running.
The Process:
- This procedure should be carried with a cold engine.
- Turn the ignition on, wait 10 seconds and then turn it off.
- Then turn the ignition on, and start the engine with the cold start knob pulled out and don't touch the throttle. Let the engine idle and after about 5 minutes push in the cold start knob and let the engine idle for another 15 minutes.
- Turn the ignition off for a couple of minutes to ensure the ECM can save any adaption data.
N.B If idling your bike for 20 minutes in hot weather, there's a possibility the down pipes on your exhaust system will start bluing as the pipes get hot. Some owners like the look of the bluing on the header pipes as it has always been there with Triumphs from days of old. If you don't like it, you will be able to take it back to a polished finish with a chrome cleaner like Solvol Autosol.
N.B. Never start the engine or let it run for any length of time in an enclosed area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous and may cause loss of consciousness or death within a short period of time. Always operate the engine in the open air or in a well ventilated area.
